ARTISTS NEEDED FOR BERNARDS TOWNSHIP PARKS & RECREATION COMMUNITY ART SHOW – JANUARY 13 SUBMISSION DEADLINE, FEBRUARY 2012 SHOW
Bernards Township residents who wish to participate must submit an entry form by January 13, 2012 for the February show to be held at the Somerset County Environmental Center in Basking Ridge.
Artists are sought to showcase their talents at the Parks & Recreation Department’s First Annual Community Art show to be held this coming February. Over the past year, the Recreation, Parks & Pathways Advisory Committee has initiated the addition of many cultural arts events to the Department’s programming schedule, including the Mayor’s Arts Awards and an amateur photography competition. “We hope the Community Art Show will become an event residents look forward to each year, as it provides a unique opportunity to showcase talent we can find right here in our own backyard.”
Bernards Township residents ages 18 and older are required to submit an entry form to exhibit their artwork in this non-juried show. Artwork may include, but is not limited to, watercolors, oils, acrylics, photography, pastels, drawings, mixed media and sculpture. Artwork must be framed and ready for hanging and artists must provide their own stand for 3D artwork. The $20 entry fee includes a maximum of two pieces per artist. If space permits, artists may be permitted to submit up to 4 pieces.
All artists are welcome, both professionals and budding artists, and artwork need not be listed for sale. Space is limited so artists are encouraged to submit an entry form as soon as possible. The entry deadline is Friday, January 13, 2012.
The 2012 Mayor’s Arts Awards will be announced at the Art Show Opening Reception scheduled for February 5, 2012. Nominations for the Individual and Organization awards will be accepted through January 6, 2012. The Mayor’s Arts Awards, first established in 2011, honors those demonstrating leadership and dedication to the fine and performing arts in Bernards Township.
To download a show entry form, including a complete list of show rules, or a Mayor’s Arts Awards nomination form visit www.bernards.org. Select Parks & Recreation, Cultural Arts under the Programs & Services menu.
