KMS Farmstead to be Case Study for Historic Preservation Conference on April 27, 2013

The Heritage Trail Association,  Preservation New Jersey and the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission are presenting an  Historic Preservation Symposium on Saturday, April 27 from 9 AM – 1 PM at 40 North Bridge Street, Somerville.  This open public forum, called “Preserving the Past for the Future”, brings together professionals from throughout New Jersey who will share their expertise in planning, zoning and historic preservation to update attendees’ understanding of the rules which apply and the tools that can be used to turn vision into reality.   Speakers include Dorothy Guzzo from the Historic Trust, Tom D’Amico from the SCCHC, Stephanie Cherry-Farmer from Preservation NJ, Andrea Tingey from the NJ State Historic Preservation Office and Consultant Wayne McCabe.  The agenda features  examples of historic preservation in action in Somerset County with a case study of  The Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead, presented by John Campbell and Ann Rosenblum.  The Staats House in Bound Brook will also be studied.

Cost is $5 per person in advance, or $10 at the door.  Register by phone, 732-356-8856 or online at http://www.heritagetrail.org    We look forward to seeing many of the KMS Friends there!
